Dysfunctional behaviours can be difficult to work through, but you don't have to let it keep you captive or darken your life. These are some ways you can try to break free of dysfunction so that you can start enjoying your life as you deserve to:
Give Yourself Some Space
One of the first steps toward healing might be separating yourself from toxic environments. You need to allow yourself the opportunity to take a step back and see how you feel away from those individuals, places... There, you can work out your feelings and experiences without any interference.
Surround Yourself With Like-Minded People
You may need to change the type of people you allow to enter your life. You've been through enough if you've experienced years of feeling lowly or worthless. Therefore, you should mainly invite and keep people in your life who can add something valuable. You cannot emotionally afford to have anyone who will bring you negativity or misery.
Now might be the most advantageous time for you to connect to your higher self via meditation, yoga or any other practise that allows you to go within. You may be able to see yourself in a different light if you get in touch with your spiritual side and learn more about yourself. Some people have a great deal of success through spirituality.
Try Holistic Therapy
Holistic therapy is something you may want to try as well. This type of therapy has a global view of yourself, your environment, your family lineage, your energy field... It's an alternative method that takes a more spiritual approach to healing.
Do Things You Love
Finally, you need to get out and do things you love. Have some fun, be light, allow the child part in you to express freely. You could start that process by choosing one activity each week that you've always wanted to do and go for it. For example, you can find a place to participate in a karaoke event and do it. You might thoroughly enjoy the experience. Next week, you might go surfing at the beach. You get the idea.
Enjoy your life
Consider using one or several of the strategies mentioned above. Something is likely to work for you if you keep trying and maintain a positive attitude about healing. Dedicate yourself to your own healing and wellness and start taking some steps to improve your quality of life now.
